A Book Review: The Roughest Draft by Emily Wibberley & Austin Siegemund-Broka

Book Summary

Nathan and Katrina are two authors who co-wrote a bestseller. Due to its amazing success, their agents are making them write another book together, but here's the problem - despite the book's success, they ended their partnership on bad terms, haven't spoken since, and Kat refuses to write ever again. They need to legally write another book together because one last book is due on the authors' contract. Yikes! This is literally the roughest draft these authors are going to have to face and well, write.

Book Review

Who loves books about books and writing? This girl right here! I loved Book Lovers by Emily Henry so I knew this would be a similar concept but this is a more contemporary romance instead of a small-town romance/grumpy to sunshine trope. Nathan and Kat to me are more enemies to lovers just because of their professional relationship ending. Despite why I can see people not liking this book, it does not change my rating or thoughts on this book as a whole. I immediately fell in love with the writing, the dialogue, and the pov chapters. Two authors writing a book about two authors? I'm in! I loved the breakdown of the writing process and the invisible string between the professional and personal dynamics. I loved the little edits between them when they would switch and edit each others' pages, and Nathan's emotions he expresses so much better on the pages, ugh I loved it!

5 stars:

- short chapters

- point of view chapters

- past and present timelines

- summer vibes

- page-turner

Happy Reading!
