Breaking the Moon (Dream Catchers Series #2) by Sandy Lo Book Review

The Break-Down

This book is number two in Lo's Dream Catcher Series! I highly recommend reading book number one, Dream Catcher, since this one does pick up right from that story; it is not a stand-alone read. You can find my review on book number one in the By the Book VBP section on my blog!

Breaking the Moon starts with Jordan and Haley evolving their relationships and within themselves. The cover reveals that a baby is coming soon, and yes, it is Jordan and Haley's soon-to-be child together! This sudden change in their lives is one of the many challenges they face together and I admire Lo telling a developing story with a theme of growth.

The Quick Review:

Their relationship is more realistic in this book. Jordan and Haley face common couple problems, such as communication, trust, and emotional intimacy. They try several times to work through it together. I felt very back and forth between the two characters and how they handled certain situations, but that added to the realistic vibe of life and relationships. Eventually, I stopped getting angry at both of them, but perhaps Lo wanted to get that emotion from the reader.

Haley's character development improved tremendously from the first book. She grew into a person who is able to finally stand up for herself with many people and comes to terms with her identity. The story is told from her point of view which I always enjoy. Jordan is working on himself this time as far as facing his emotions. The side of his story made me cry and I wanted to give Jordan a hug! I love that Lo incorporated Jordan's perspective as well through journal entries and it reminded me of Haley talking about her anxiety through journal writing in book one. It was nice to get inside Jordan's mind and understand his perspective too.

"Breaking Halye's heart would be like breaking the moon."

- Sandy Lo, "Breaking the Moon"

I recommend checking out this series! I enjoyed it and I am a fan of this author's work!
