Ugly Love by Colleen Hoover Book Review

Book Summary

A steamy story from the queen herself, Ugly Love by CoHo. Tate Collins meets Miles Archer, her brother's best friend, and it's not love at first sight but immediate attraction. This lust draws them to each other instead of wanting to start an actual friendship. Once they are open about their desires, they arrange a perfect setup; he makes it clear he does not want love, and she does not have time for it anyway, so sex is their only option. There are two rules Miles lives by - never ask about the past, and don't expect a future. Tate believes she can handle these guidelines with ease and puts a "friend" with benefits to the test than can get ugly.

Book Review

I'm so glad I was finally able to read this popular CoHo book and I now understand the hype for it! I see why readers love Miles Archer as a book boyfriend, although I wouldn't call him that for myself, haha! I sympathized with his character's storyline. I was impressed with the format of his chapters and the poetic layout CoHo wrote them in. I enjoyed Tate's storyline as well and I liked her as a character too. Books with POV chapters are my favorite and CoHo goes back and forth with not only Tate and Mile's perspectives as chapters but the transition from normal, written-out chapters to Miles's poetic format is such an important detail added to his character; it was done so well! I embraced the story as a whole for what is defined as ugly love. CoHo just has a way of diving deep into readers' emotions and vulnerability.

"Ugly love becomes you. Consumes you. Makes you hate it all. Makes you realize that all the beautiful parts aren't even worth it. Without the beautiful, you'll never risk feeling the ugly. So you give it all up. You give it all up. You never want love again, no matter what kind it is, because no type of love will ever be worth living through the ugly love again."

- Colleen Hoover, "Ugly Love"

I recommend this book if you are looking for a next romance read to hit your emotions and to understand a new perspective on a topic we are all seeking to understand. I constantly recommend this author all the time at this point honestly, haha! She is popular on social media in the book community for a reason and I have seen why since the first time I read her book. Her writing is delicate but still has a way to enforce emotions strongly. This book landed on my favorite CoHo list so check it out and add it to yours too!

Enjoy & happy reading!
